Greetings!  We’re the Hansen Family:  Michael, Shelly, Hailey (10), Micah (8), and Maddie (5).  We are Southern California natives that recently moved to the great state of Tennessee.  We love the Southern country lifestyle and multitude of historical sites related to early American history.  It is truly a wonderful environment to raise and train up our children in their walk with the Lord.

Our Little Family

Michael is an Audio Engineer by trade (and now Website Designer extraordinaire).  He has spent the majority of his life playing and writing music.  In fact, we met many moons ago at one of his gigs!  I, Shelly, have 20 years under my belt working in Veterinary Clinics and am a licensed technician.  However,  I am now a home mommy and LOVE it!!  We have been homeschooling our three little darlin’s since the very beginning.  Heading into our sixth year, I am only starting to feel that “I know what I’m doing”!  Of course, that changes day to day!

Our homeschooling style is, in one word, eclectic.  We do use set curriculum for Math, Grammar, and Spelling.  But we all greatly enjoy Unit Studies for History, combining Notebooking along with Living Books.  I love Charlotte Mason’s theories and try my very best to implement them in our daily life.  The kids are AVID artists, so we have many new masterpieces each day.  They need no stimulus in that area!
